Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson endured a gruesome led injury Wednesday as he was covering first base while playing against the New York Mets.

The incident happened as the 38-year-old pitcher ran to cover the base, but Mets left fielder Eric Young Jr. stepped on his right ankle while running out the play. In a clip on the moment, Hudson can be seen crumbling to the ground almost instantaneously after the fact.

The Braves' medical team soon determined that the player had a broken ankle and he was taken out of the field on a cart. No time table has been provided for Hudson's absence.

The Braves went on to win the game 8-2, but there reportedly was little celebrating afterwards.

You can watch a clip on the incident below, thought be advised, it is rather graphic.
