Kid Rock: 'I'm f--king embarrassed to be a Republican'

Kid Rock was a fervent supporter of the Mitt Romney ticket during the 2012 elections. However, the Republican rocker is not as conservative as you might think.

While speaking to Rolling Stone magazine about his upcoming summer tour, Rock said he was upset at some of the rules established by Republican lawmakers.

The singer began by criticizing the fact that entertainers and athletes make "astronomical amounts of money" noting that "people that are intellectually smart" don't receive as much credit as they should. To back up this theory, Rock decided to lower ticket prices for his upcoming Summer tour to $20, but has faced some trouble due to ticketing fees and some states that forbid paperless ticketing, making costs inaccessibly expensive.

"That's one of the times I'm fucking embarrassed to be a Republican," he told Rolling Stone. "It's fucking Republican lawmakers passing those laws, you dumbasses. They already did it in New York and they're trying to do it in Michigan. I've even called some of those guys to try and stop it."

According to Rock, people have stopped going to concerts because they can't afford to and he has been working with Live Nation to try to come up with a solution.

"I've been meeting with Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino for years, trying to figure out how to fix the concert industry," he said. "We're all so overpaid. It's ridiculous. People stopped going to concerts because they can't afford them. The Rolling Stones are charging $650 per ticket! That just makes me speechless. I love the Stones, but I won't be attending."

"It costs us $125,000 to show up with our crew and whatnot," Rock told Rapino, adding "I want to share beer, parking, hot dogs. Let's put the money in a pot at the end of the night and figure out, based on the numbers, what I'll get paid."

In the end they were able to compromise. The rockers' upcoming series of shows is set to begin June 28 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia. Tickets for both the lawn and the pavilion are set to cost $20 and beer will allegedly be $4.

"Even if it sells out, I'll take a pay cut," Rock said of his upcoming show. "Fortunately, I'm able to do that."
