BYU student, Jimmy Hales decided to stop being a "closet Mormon" and spent the last year coming out to his friends and family and recording their reactions. In the end, Hales received mostly positive feedback from his buddies and got to make this video to inspire other gay Mormons to come out in their own way.
"Studying at BYU as a closet gay Mormon has been quite an experience. I finally decided to come out and stop living a lie," he writes in the video's description. "I'm still, and will forever be, a faithful Mormon, so it looks like I'm not going to marry and therefore live a single life through this mortal existence. Sucks."
On his blog, Hales records his daily live as a gay Mormon and his coming out experiences. He also addresses the fact that Mormon Church requires that homosexual members remain celibate throughout their life, a rule that he, as devoted Mormon, is willing to follow though he considers it to be "a taste of hell."
