John McAfee suffers possible heart attack in Guatemala jail [UPDATED]

ABC's Matt Gutman tweeted Thursday that jailed tech entrepreneur John McAfee had been taken to a hospital after complaining of chest pains.

John McAfee's absurd legal saga continued Thursday with news that the rogue entrepreneur-homicide suspect, on the lam from Belizean authorities, had finally been arrested in Guatemala on charges of "entering the country illegally." There's no word yet on whether McAfree will be sent back to Belize, but a Guatemalan jail warden named Gino has generously offered up use of his personal computer, and the software mogul is now drinking "excellent" coffee and liveblogging from the big house.

Here's his first post, "Blogging from jail":

I am in jail in Guatemala. Vastly superior to Belize jails. I asked for a computer and one magically appeared. The coffee is also excellent.

Only time will tell what will happen. No one has a crystal ball. However, I would be truly shocked if I did not conduct the press conference tomorrow as I had originally planned.

I believe, by the way, that blogging from a jail cell might be a groundbreaking activity. Let’s see if it catches on.

McAfee has updated his blog four times since then, telling readers that the American Embassy "said there is nothing that they can do" and asking, "Anybody have friends in the State Department?" McAfee is optimistic in his longest post, titled "Can't Sleep":

I am using the computer of one of the wardens, or whatever title is used here. He is a sweet man and a gentleman. The world is heavilly populated with gentle people. He makes me coffee and tells tender stories about his life. He is a good companion. I believe I could spend weeks in the desert with him as a sole companion without once becoming irritated. His name is Gino Ennati.

Everyone here is nice. And sympathetic. So far, my experience on the inside of this establishment has worn away a bit of my natural cynicism and added a measure of hope for humanity.

Vice magazine reporters, who inadvertently gave away McAfee's location Tuesday, were on hand to document his arrest, during which the fugitive casually comments, "Guatemalan jails have beds, dude. And food. It's pretty awesome." Video below:
