Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Starz has released a first look photo of Courteney Cox as her character, Patricia Phelps, in the upcoming horror-comedy, Shining Vale.

The image shows the Friends and Scream icon wearing eyeglasses and a brown jacket as she stares at a laptop next to a neatly stacked pile of books on a table in what appears to be an attic.

The cable network said in a press release that Pat is a former "wild child," who is now a married mother of two teens and a struggling novelist.

The half-hour show is described as being about "a dysfunctional family that moves from the city to a small town into a house in which terrible atrocities have taken place."

"But no one seems to notice except for Pat, who's convinced she's either depressed or possessed -- turns out, the symptoms are exactly the same."

Shining Vale co-stars Greg Kinnear, Mira Sorvino, Merrin Dungey, Gus Birney and Dylan Gage.

Jeff Astrof wrote the pilot screenplay based on a story he created with Sharon Horgan. They are executive producers on the project.
