July 27 (UPI) -- Starz said it has renewed filmmaker Steven Soderbergh's anthology series The Girlfriend Experience for a third season.

The 10 new episodes are "set amidst the London tech scene where a young female neuroscientist begins to explore the transactional world of The Girlfriend Experience, only to find herself deep inside the Uncanny Valley with the relationships she creates," a press release said.

Soderbergh returns as executive producer of the show. Season 3 was written, and will be directed and produced by Anja Marquardt.

No casting has been announced yet.

Season 2 starred Anna Friel, Louisa Krause and Carmen Ejogo.

Each season has a different cast and setting, but follows the theme of women paid to act as if they are in romances with people.

The cable network also said it has ordered a Dangerous Liaisons prequel series that will follow master manipulators Merteuil and Valmont who "meet as passionate young lovers in the slums of 18th century Paris," a synopsis said.

Harriet Warner -- whose credits include Tell Me Your Secrets and Call the Midwife -- serves as executive producer and show-runner for the costume drama, which was inspired by the book Les liaisons dangereuses by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos.

The network didn't say who will lead the ensemble.
