Tom Cruise returns in first 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout' trailer

Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hunt in the first trailer for Paramount's upcoming sixth entry in their long-running action series, Mission: Impossible - Fallout.

The clip, first released during the Super Bowl but then expanded online with a longer run time, features Cruise facing dire consequences for an IMF mission gone wrong, including a standoff with a returning Rebecca Ferguson.

Cruise's allies consisting of franchise stars Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames and Alec Baldwin also return along with new characters played by Angela Bassett and Superman star Henry Cavill.

The trailer includes looks at the film's numerous action scenes which include Cruise dangling outside a helicopter followed by a chase, and the actor getting involved in a destructive bathroom brawl that also includes Cavill.

Fallout, from Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation helmer Christopher McQuarrie, is set to arrive in theaters on July 27.
