"After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka 'the Widow-Maker')," the media personality said on Twitter alongside a photo of himself laying on a hospital bed. "If I hadn't canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would've died tonight. But for now, I'm still above ground!"

Smith, known for directing films such as Clerks and Mallrats, among others, currently hosts and produces AMC's Comic Book Men, a number of podcasts and recently finished directing an episode of The Flash for The CW. His last feature film was 2016's Yoga Hosers which starred his daughter Harley Quinn Smith and Johnny Depp's daughter Lily-Rose Depp.

Celebrities including Chris Pratt and Patricia Arquette reacted to the news on Twitter.

"Kevin we don't know each other too good but I have loved you since Clerks and I'm praying my ass off for you cause I believe in the healing power of prayer. Can you please pray with me people!?" Pratt said.

"Scary! Glad your ok," Arquette said.
