ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Pakistan has moved to renew its relationship with the United States, an official said Thursday.
"We are looking forward to re-engaging with the U.S. on issues of mutual interest and importance," Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said.
Basit said both sides were looking to move past the November U.S.-led NATO attack in which 24 Pakistani soldiers were mistakenly killed, Dawn News reported.
The incident led to a review of Pakistan's terms of engagement with the United States by the Parliamentary Committee on National Security.
The committee submitted 35 recommendations to the Parliament in favor of renewing the "important" relationship based on "mutual respect and mutual interest."
Speaking about the PCNS recommendations, Basit said, "We'll lead to a positive outcome for both sides."
Basit added Pakistan desired a more stable relationship with the United States.
"We want relationship that is free from ups and downs of a roller coaster ride," he said.
