House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi met with Speaker John Boehner Wednesday to discuss Democrats' participation in a special committee formed to investigate Benghazi.
Democrats had been considering boycotting the committee altogether, or appointing just a single member to keep tabs on the committee's activities after the Republican majority rules determined the committee would give seven seats to GOP members and five to Democrats, and would not allow Democrats to call their own witnesses.
"No decision has been made, but Pelosi is now leaning toward appointing a full complement of Members to the Select Committee on Benghazi," the aide, who was not authorized to speak on the record, told TPM. "She huddled with leadership at 10 a.m. this morning and will likely hold an additional meeting with leadership this afternoon to update them on negotiations with the Speaker's office."
The Select Committee on the Events Surrounding the 2012 Terrorist Attack in Benghazi will be led by Trey Gowdy, R-S.C. He'll be joined by Susan Brooks of Indiana, Jim Jordan of Ohio, Mike Pompeo of Kansas, Martha Roby of Alabama, Peter Roskam of Illinois, and Lynn Westmoreland of Georgia.
