WASHINGTON, May 4 (UPI) -- Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Representative Adam Schiff, D-Calif., told host Chris Wallace that his fellow Democrats in congress should not participate in the recently-announced investigation into the 2012 Benghazi attacks.
The latest round of hearings come after the release of an email in which a White House advisor reviewed talking points for former ambassador Susan Rice shortly after the attack. Critics of the Obama administration are concerned the White House intentionally propagated false information about the reason for the attack to defer attention from what could have done to prevent it.
Adam Schiff disagrees and thinks Obama's critics only say that to lend credibility to their own talking points in an election year.
"We've had four bipartisan investigations into this already," Schiff said.
Democratic leadership has not yet stated to what degree it plans to participate in the hearings. The Republican conference is so fractured, there’s only two things they can agree on. They don’t like Obamacare, so we’ve had fifty votes on that. And they do like talking about Benghazi, so we’ve had four investigations on that.
It's a tremendous red herring and a waste of taxpayer resources.
