Shooting at Ohio VA Medical Center, one injured, suspect in custody

Police: The shooter "came in looking for someone else to do harm to, didn't find him and fired at this guy."

DAYTON, Ohio, May 5 (UPI) -- At least part of a Veterans Administration Medical Center complex in Dayton, Ohio, was locked down Monday when gunfire erupted inside.

A SWAT team was deployed to the scene and FBI agents could be seen entering the building as some employees were evacuated from the the hospital.

A man who allegedly opened fire with a revolver, injuring at least one person, "came in looking for someone else to do harm to, didn't find him and fired at this guy,” according to an officer.

The suspected gunman was taken into custody a short time later, and the weapon allegedly used in the shooting was found inside the suspect’s truck parked at his sister’s house.

Initial reports indicated the situation was domestic, as the suspect’s wife works at the VA center.

The victim suffered a minor and non-threatening leg injury.
