'Revenge porn' Web site closed down

NEW YORK, April 20 (UPI) -- The U.S. owner of a "revenge porn" blog that encouraged people to submit intimate pictures of ex-girlfriends and ex-boyfriends says he's closed the site.

The owner of IsAnyoneUp.com, Hunter Moore, said he's sold the domain name to an anti-bullying group, the BBC reported Friday.

"IsAnyoneUp.com served no public good," new site owner Bullyville.com said. "That is why it is offline."

"No doubt, [Moore] was the No.1 Internet bully out there and we took him down ... not a hostile takeover but in a politically correct way," Bullyville founder James McGibney said in an interview with ABC's "Nightline."

IsAnyoneUp.com, which featured pictures of men and women from around the world, published the full name and links to social networking profiles of unwilling photo subjects.

The site attracted more than 300,000 hits a day, garnering $20,000 a month in advertising revenues for Moore.

Moore, who lives in Los Angeles, blamed the "drama" of receiving submitted content involving under-age subjects as pushing him to close the site.

"The site was a blessing for me, and still is, but I am burned out and I honestly can't take another under-age kid getting submitted and having to go through the process of reporting it and dealing with all the legal drama of that situation," he said.

The IsAnyoneUp.com domain now redirects to a page on Bullyville.com with a statement from McGibney.

"There are millions of women and men who are thankful that IsAnyoneUp.com is no longer online," McGibney wrote.

"Lawyers and massive companies have tried unsuccessfully to remove it from the Internet. Bullyville was able to work with Hunter to get this done."

It is unknown how much, if anything, the domain changed hands for, the BBC said.
