N.J. child porn roundup nets 28 suspects

TRENTON, N.J., April 17 (UPI) -- New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa Tuesday announced 28 suspects have been rounded up in a child pornography investigation.

"Operation Watchdog" concluded last week with arrests in 26 communities, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Those arrested, including a woman and a 17-year-old boy, were charged with distribution and possession of child porn.

Three more suspects had yet to be taken into custody.

The newspaper said most of the suspects were released on their own recognizance, though several were being held in the Camden County jail.

"Those who thought they could hide their child porn crimes in the secrecy of their homes have been exposed by the relentless work of law enforcement working together," State Police Superintendent Col. Rick Fuentes said in a release.

Based on the results of the three-month investigation, authorities allege the suspects used the Internet to download or distribute pornographic images.
