Baltimore mayor 'floored' by some charges

State Prosecutor Robert Rohrbaugh, who brought the case, was appointed by a Republican governor.

"This prosecutor has been after me for a number of years," Dixon said. "In some circles, I was told it was intentional."

Dixon faces a long list of charges for allegedly failing to disclose gifts from developers doing business in the city. She said she was "floored" by charges that she stole gift cards donated for needy families.

"I was very bothered, and that hurt, particularly when I knew it wasn't true," she said.

She also said she was "bothered" that U.S. President Barack Obama didn't mention her when he spoke in Baltimore en route to the presidential inauguration in Washington.

"That was a lonely part," Dixon said.
