25 Indian ministers lose positions

NEW DELHI, May 13 (UPI) -- India's federal elections results have spelled doom for several top ranked officials with at least 25 ministers of the outgoing coalition government ousted.

India's Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha, Human Resources Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, Petroleum Minister Ram Naik, Tourism Minister Jagmohan, Labor Minister Sahib Singh, junior Home Minister I.D. Swami and even the speaker of the parliament Manohar Joshi lost the election.

Other ministers losing the polls include Vijay Goel, Nitish Kumar and Shahnawaz Hussein.

India's opposition Congress Party sprang a surprise victory in the elections and will form the next government, with Congress Party leader, Italian-born Sonia Gandhi, expected to be named prime minsiter.
