BALI, Indonesia, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Bali is preparing for the one-year memorial to the 202 victims of the terrorist bombing of a nightclub, one year ago on Oct. 12.
Australia lost 88 people in the bomb blast, which injured hundreds more.
A Christian service, with Muslim and Hindu elements, will be conducted by the same military chaplains who ministered after the Bali bombing, the Australian reported.
The service will include music from some of the victims' family members and the commemoration will wind up with John Williamson singing "Waltzing Matilda." The Australian prime minister will move through the crowds of mourners.
Security is described as "intense" and the 1,000 expected mourners have been told not to bring bags to the service and that drinking water and tissues will be provided.
More than 500 Australians have accepted the Australian government's offer to fund their trips to Bali for the one-year commemoration.
Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri will not be at the commemoration, because of a previous engagement with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the Australian said.
