Top-ranked Andy Murray has withdrawn from next week's Western & Southern Open tournament near Cincinnati because of an ongoing hip injury. Murray made the announcement with a Facebook post on Wednesday.
"Unfortunately I won't be playing in Cincinnati as I continue my recovery," the 30-year-old Scot wrote. "I always enjoy playing there and I look forward to returning next year. I'm continuing to work hard on the court with the aim of being in New York (for the U.S. Open)."
Murray hasn't played since his Wimbledon quarterfinal loss to American Sam Querrey on July 12. He entered that tournament after pulling out of two exhibition matches citing a sore left hip.
The U.S. Open, which is the final Grand Slam of the season, runs from Aug. 28 through Sept. 10.
