Houston Texans pick up fifth-year option on CB Kevin Johnson

The Houston Texans are expected to exercise the fifth-year option on cornerback Kevin Johnson, the Houston Chronicle reported on Monday.

Johnson is expected to make $9.06 million during the 2019 season, per the report.

The 25-year-old has sustained numerous injuries since being selected by the Texans with the 16th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He had a broken foot and fractured wrist during his rookie season as well as a broken foot and a knee injury in 2016.

Johnson struggled in 2017 after sustaining a sprained knee ligament and finished the season with 45 tackles in 12 games. He has collected 124 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery in 34 career contests.
