Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is trying his best to get LeBron James to join the Los Angeles Lakers this summer.

The Cleveland Cavaliers star is a free agent this offseason. Carr was tweeting about his desire for James to pick the Lakers on Thursday night.

He first commented on a tweet from ESPN, saying that the Cavaliers cleared a path for the Lakers to go after the four-time NBA MVP this summer.

Carr tweeted two emojis, including a smiley face.

"I know you're hot right now bro, but come on home to the #LakeShow and make the Cavs regret losing you...again...," Carr tweeted 20 minutes later, including six ring emojis.

"Never hurts to try," Carr said in another tweet.

Carr was then questioned for his recruiting due to the Raiders scheduled to move their franchise to Las Vegas in the coming years.

"We may be leaving in a couple years, but I will always be a Lakers fan!" Carr tweeted.

Carr sat courtside on Wednesday during the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder game. He met up with Thunder star Paul George during the game for a chat.

George has also been rumored in a possible union with James in Los Angeles. Carr was asked if he said anything to George about a possible move during their brief meeting on Wednesday.

"Haha I'm sure PG knows how I feel," Carr tweeted. "I don't want to bother my bro with that though. I don't know LeBron so I thought I'd try for my Lakers!?"

Carr and George both went to Fresno State. They each attended the school in 2009, Carr's freshman year. George gave his shoes to Carr after Wednesday's game.

The Cavaliers made a series of moves Wednesday, shipping Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye, Dwyane Wade, Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Derrick Rose, Iman Shumpert to other teams in exchange for Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr., Rodney Hood and George Hill.
