Dez Bryant was on the field at the start of practice Wednesday, a sign the Dallas Cowboys could have their top receiver on the field Sunday at Green Bay.

The Cowboys (4-1) have won four consecutive games, including the past two without Bryant. He is recovering from what head coach Jason Garrett classified as a hairline fracture below his left knee.

While Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said last week not to rule Bryant out, he missed the home victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Brice Butler started in Bryant's place.

For the Packers, head coach Mike McCarthy said running back Eddie Lacy (ankle) would spend Wednesday's practice time rehabbing his injury. If Lacy is unable to start Sunday, McCarthy would typically turn those chores over to James Starks.

However, Starks did not practice Wednesday because of a knee injury. Practice squad rookie Don Jackson would likely be promoted if the injuries linger this week.

McCarthy also said top cornerback Sam Shields (concussion) is making good progress. Shields attended position meetings Wednesday for the first time since suffering a concussion on Sept. 11. Shields, who missed a month last season with a concussion, has five documented head injuries since college.

--Arizona Cardinals: Cleared from concussion protocol after he missed Week 5 at San Francisco, quarterback Carson Palmer practiced with the first-team offense. He'll start this week. Palmer said he would have been fine to play in a typical Sunday-t0-Sunday scenario, but the three-day window to recover before playing the 49ers was not enough.

--Baltimore Ravens: Wide receiver Steve Smith (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.

--Buffalo Bills: Wide receiver Sammy Watkins' injured foot will not require repeat surgery. Watkins, on injured reserve, could be back for the final month of the season if he continues to progress. He played the first two games before being shut down.

--Carolina Panthers: Cam Newton missed Monday's home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a concussion. He was back on the practice field Wednesday and plans to start against the Saints this week.

--Cleveland Browns: Left guard Joel Bitonio, who was playing well alongside Joe Thomas, is out for several weeks with mid-foot injury.

Quarterback Cody Kessler practiced Wednesday but said he is experiencing discomfort when he throws. Kessler left last week's game with chest and rib injuries.

--Detroit Lions: Defensive end Ziggy Ansah returned to practice after missing the past three weeks, but nose tackle Haloti Ngata (shoulder) could miss multiple games.

--Kansas City Chiefs: Running back Jamaal Charles took part in a complete practice without limitation for the first time since tearing a knee ligament in October 2015.

The Chiefs also could see another Pro Bowl player back on the field soon: outside linebacker Justin Houston (knee) was cleared to resume football activity. He must remain on the physically unable to perform list through Sunday's games by NFL rule.

--Miami Dolphins: Safety Reshad Jones could miss time with a groin injury, head coach Adam Gase said Wednesday.

Tight end Jordan Cameron (concussion) did not practice but running back Arian Foster (groin) was on the field.

--New York Jets: Wide receiver Eric Decker could be done for the season with a partially torn rotator cuff. He was placed on injured reserve Wednesday.

--New York Giants: Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul sat out Wednesday's practice with a groin injury.

--Philadelphia Eagles: Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox did not practice because of a sore ankle, but Eagles coach Doug Pederson said Cox and cornerback Leodis McKelvin (hamstring) should be ready to go Sunday.

--Washington Redskins: The Washington Redskins may be without their top receiver when they play the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

Redskins tight end Jordan Reed has been diagnosed with another concussion, Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Thursday, and Reed is now in the NFL's concussion protocol.

This is the sixth documented concussion for Reed dating back to his college days at the University of Florida.

Gruden did not officially rule Reed out for Sunday's game, but it is unlikely he will be cleared to play given his history of concussions.

"We have to just take each individual injury for what they are," Gruden said. "We let the independent doctor and our doctors decide on how severe they are. That's all I can say. We obviously want him to get well. He's a very important part of our offense, but we also want him to get better from a personal standpoint."

Reed reported concussion-like symptoms on Tuesday and was held out of practice on Wednesday.

Reed leads the Redskins with 33 receptions for 316 yards this year. He also has two touchdown receptions. Last season, Reed had 87 catches for 952 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Reed had concussions in 2011 and 2012 at Florida, then had two concussions as an NFL rookie in 2013. He had his fifth concussion last season, but still played in 15 games, including one playoff game.

The Redskins are riding a three-game winning streak, but if Reed is lost for an extended period, it may affect their offense significantly.
