Philadelphia 76ers acquire Buddy Hield in trade with Indiana Pacers

Feb. 8 (UPI) -- The Philadelphia 76ers agreed to trade two players and three draft picks to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for forward Buddy Hield, a league source told UPI on Thursday.

The Pacers will receive Marcus Morris, Furkan Korkmaz and three second-round picks in the swap.

Hield, 31, averaged 12 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game through 52 appearances this season for the Pacers. The eight-year veteran averaged 15.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game through his first 600 appearances in the NBA.

Hield entered the league as the No. 6 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. He previously played for the New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings. He also was traded in 2017 and 2022.

He is set to become a free agent this off-season.

Morris, 34, averaged 6.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game through 37 appearances this season for the 76ers. The veteran forward averaged 12.1 points and 4.5 rebounds through his first 820 career appearances.

Morris, a 13-year veteran, previously played for the Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers. He will become a free agent this off-season.

Korkmaz, 26, averaged 2.5 points per game through 35 appearances this season for the 76ers. The Turkish guard joined the 76ers as the No. 26 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. He averaged 6.8 points per game through his first seven seasons in the league. He also is set to hit free agency later this year.

The 76ers (30-20) sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. They've lost seven of their last eight games while playing without injured All-Star center Joel Embiid.

The 76ers will host the Atlanta Hawks (22-29) at 7 p.m. EST Friday in Philadelphia.

The Pacers (29-23) are the No. 6 team in the Eastern Conference. They will host the Golden State Warriors (23-25) at 7 p.m. Thursday in Indianapolis.
