March 1 (UPI) -- Obi Toppin, Cassius Stanley and Anfernee Simons are expected to be among the players who will compete in the 2021 NBA Slam Dunk Contest at halftime of the All-Star Game on Sunday in Atlanta.
Sources told ESPN, The Athletic and Forbes that the trio will compete in the throwdown. One spot remains in the contest. New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson is among the players who haven't ruled out an appearance.
The Slam Dunk Contest features four players who compete in two rounds.
Toppin -- the No. 8 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft -- has averaged 4.6 points and 2.4 rebounds per game through 25 appearances this season for the New York Knicks.
Stanley -- a second-round pick in the 2020 NBA Draft -- has logged just eight appearances for the Indiana Pacers. He has averaged 12.4 points per game in nine G League appearances.
Simons is averaging 8.5 points per game in his third season for the Portland Trail Blazers.
Phoenix Suns forward Derrick Jones Jr. won the 2020 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, but he is not expected to compete this year.
The 2021 All-Star game tips off at 8 p.m. EST Sunday on TNT. Players will compete in a skills challenge and a 3-point contest at 6:30 p.m., which also airs on TNT.
