Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Coach Doc Rivers joked that he tore his ACL after falling and down the splits on the sideline during the Los Angeles Clippers' win against the Dallas Mavericks.

Rivers took the spill in the final seconds of the third quarter during the Clippers' 125-121 victory on Thursday at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Mavericks guard J.J. Barea was dribbling the ball just past half-court when he appeared to double dribble. Rivers pounced up from the Clippers bench and slid on the floor, with his right leg giving out. He got back to his feet and voiced his displeasure to the nearby referee.

"I'm hurting," Rivers told reporters. "When I went down, I thought, well I just tore my ACL for the second time, but this time I'm coaching. The doctor said I didn't, my body said I did. So we will find out tomorrow."

The Clippers (18-13) host the Denver Nuggets at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Staples Center.
