BOSTON, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Isaiah Thomas was on the short list of reserves to join the Eastern Conference All-Star squad Thursday.

The Boston Celtics guard stands at 5 feet, 9 inches. The selection makes him the second NBA player ever, along with Houston legend Calvin Murphy, to make an All-Star team at less than 5 feet, 10 inches.

"I am honored to be selected as an All Star & represent the Boston Celtics, joining the greatest of Boston Celtics who have played in the All Star game," Thomas said on Facebook. "I'm VERY GRATEFUL for ALL the SUPPORT I have been given by the greatest fans in the world & of course the Boston Celtics organization."

"This is a TEAM award, none of us succeed without our TEAMMATES & their support ON and OFF the court," Thomas added. "So thanks to my team, coaching staff, and the media, you have all been very positive and supportive! It is an honor & I will rep the Eastern Conference Right!"

The Eastern Conference roster, announced Thursday night on TNT's Inside the NBA, included: Jimmy Butler, DeMar DeRozan, Paul Millsap, Andre Drummond, Chris Bosh and John Wall.
