SACRAMENTO, June 23 (UPI) -- There appears to be a dangerous distance between the front office and coaching staff of the Sacramento Kings when it comes to retaining star DeMarcus Cousins.

After reports surfaced that the Los Angeles Lakers were making a push for the All-Star center Monday, general manager Vlade Divac was quick to shoot the idea down.

Kings owner Vivek Ranadive mirrored that sentiment when he told Slam Magazine that the team has "zero interest" in trading the big man.

A source recently told ESPN's Chris Broussard that Ranadive "will not allow coach George Karl to trade Cousins."

According to Broussard, Karl is interested in acquiring Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson and forward Kenneth Faried.

Cousins has become increasingly aware of Karl's intentions to trade him, even hearing it from teammates, according to Yahoo! Sports.
