Nick Hagadone signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners, the team announced Tuesday. The 31-year-old left-handed reliever received an invite to spring training after missing the entire 2016 season rehabbing a fractured left elbow. He underwent surgery to repair the injury last February.

Hagadone spent his first five seasons with the Cleveland Indians, going 3-2 with a 4.72 ERA and 122 strikeouts in 143 career appearances. In 2015, Hagadone was 0-1 with a 4.28 ERA in a career-high-tying 36 outings.
He was placed on the disabled list with lower back and elbow soreness on July 8 of that year.
A Sandpoint, Idaho native, Hagadone has local ties after pitching at the University of Washington. He was teammates with future two-time National League Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum and combined for a no-hitter with him.
Hagadone was drafted in the first round (55th overall) by the Boston Red Sox in the 2007 draft, but never pitched for the team.
Before that, Hagadone was drafted by the Mariners in 36th round of the 2004 draft but opted to attend college.
