Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Bianca Andreescu won the 2019 U.S. Open tennis title in straight sets, denying Serena Williams a record-tying 24th Grand Slam on Saturday in New York.
Andreescu, 19, is the first Canadian to win a Grand Slam. She also is the first teenager to win a Grand Slam since Maria Sharapova captured the 2006 U.S. Open. Andreescu beat Williams 6-3, 7-5.
