Fitzpatrick left the game with 47 seconds left in the third quarter. The injury apparently occurred when Fitzpatrick was hit by Dolphins defensive tackle Jordan Phillips on the previous play. Phillips was penalized for roughing the passer.

Backup quarterback Bryce Petty, a second-year pro, came in and made his NFL debut for the Jets. He completed his first pass, a screen to Bilal Powell that went for a first down.
