Nats finish sweep of Phillies

Adam LaRoche hit a two-run homer, Doug Fister tossed seven solid innings and the Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-2, to complete a three-game sweep.

Adam LaRoche hit a two-run homer, Doug Fister tossed seven solid innings and the Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-2, to complete a three-game sweep.

Jayson Werth and Ryan Zimmerman each knocked in a run for the Nationals, who went 5-3 during an eight-game homestand. Fister (4-1) allowed two runs on four hits while striking out five.

John Mayberry Jr. hit a solo homer for the Phillies, who have lost six in a row for the first time since dropping eight straight from July 20-28, 2013. Chase Utley also had an RBI.

Philadelphia starter Kyle Kendrick (1-6) gave up four runs on six hits with five walks over seven innings.
