Booed by a crowd of 45,061, Braun nonetheless recorded his second career three-homer effort, after doing so at San Diego on May 1, 2012 in an 8-3 victory. In the process, he upped his career numbers to .405 with 10 home runs and 21 RBI in 20 career games at Citizens Bank Park.

Mark Reynolds and Scooter Gennett added two hits and an RBI apiece for the Brewers, who are coming off a weekend sweep in Boston. Carlos Gomez and Jean Segura contributed two hits and two runs scored each for the victorious visitors.

Kyle Lohse (1-1) walked five and allowed seven hits, but limited his opponents to three runs and fanned four over his five-inning outing.

Jimmy Rollins hit safely twice and drove in two, Marlon Byrd and Cody Asche knocked in a run each and Ben Revere had two hits and scored twice for the Phillies, in their 2014 home opener which was called off Monday due to the threat of rain.

Kyle Kendrick (0-1) was tagged in defeat for nine hits and six runs -- four earned -- over five full frames.
