SEOUL, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Kimiko Date-Krumm, whose first WTA match came in 1989, ousted second-seeded Maria Kirilenko in a second-round match of the KDB Korea Open in Seoul.

Date-Krumm, 42, defeated Maya Kidowaki in April 1989 -- about three months after Kirilenko's second birthday -- for her first WTA match win and continued her lengthy career with a 6-3, 6-1 win Thursday over Kirilenko. She claimed 60 percent of the points on serve and 59 percent off Kirilenko's serves, getting six breaks in the process.

No. 1-seed Agnieszka Radwanska had little trouble in getting past Estrella Cabeza Candela in her second-round match, winning 6-2, 6-1. Radwanska converted all five of her break chances and won more than half (23-of-42) of the points when receiving serve.

The other match Thursday saw South Korea wild-card invitee Jang Su-jeong rally for a 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 decision over Ons Jabeur. Jang dropped 1 point on serve in the final set.

Friday's quarterfinals have Radwanska going against Vera Dushevina while Jang meets Lara Arruabarrena in the other top-half match. Date-Krumm is to play Francesca Schiavone and third-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova takes on Irina-Camelia Begu in the other half of the draw.
