Ryan Newman finished third, but didn't make the 12-driver championship Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship. He was followed by Jamie McMurray and Menard.

Seventh-place finisher Clint Bowyer did make the playoffs, taking the second and final wild card spot in a tiebreaker with Michael Waltrip Racing teammate Martin Truex Jr.

Kasey Kahne finished 14th and claimed the first wild card position. Joey Logano's 22nd-place showing enabled him to beat out Jeff Gordon for the last Top-10 points spot in the Chase.

Defending Sprint Cup champion Brad Keselowski, meanwhile, ended up missing the Chase with a 17th-place finish.
