MLB: Detroit 16, Kansas City 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Omar Infante had five of Detroit's overwhelming 26 hits Friday and drove in six runs to send the Tigers coasting past Kansas City 16-2.

Detroit scored five times in both the second and fourth innings to emphatically end a two-game skid.

Andy Dirks also had five hits and scored four times while Austin Jackson added four RBI.

Infante singled in a run during the second-inning outburst, drove in another with a base hit in the fourth, produced a three-run double in the fifth and finished his night with an RBI single in the seventh.

Jackson drove in two runs each with a double and single. Only one of the runs was driven in by Miguel Cabrera, who boosted his major league leading RBI total to 131.

Anibal Sanchez (13-7) was able to cruise to the win, giving up a run on seven hits in seven innings. James Shields (10-9) suffered the loss after allowing 10 runs on 14 hits in 3 2/3.
