MLB: San Diego 3, San Francisco 2

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- A base hit by Chris Denorfia in the seventh inning Tuesday drove in the winning run in the San Diego Padres' 3-2 victory over the visiting San Francisco Giants.

Denorfia singled to center off Javier Lopez with runners at the corner to break a 1-1 tie and give the Padres their second win in a row.

Nick Hundley had two hits and an RBI in the victory. Pitcher Robbie Erlin also drove in a run in his 5 1/3-inning start. Tim Stauffer (3-1) picked up the win in relief. Houston Street made his 27th save.

Jake Dunning (0-2) started the fateful seventh and was responsible for the winning run. Joaquin Arias and Pablo Sandoval had RBIs for the Giants.
