Tseng down to 10th in women's golf rankings

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., July 15 (UPI) -- Yani Tseng slips to No. 10 in Monday's update of the world women's golf rankings, a drop of nine places since March when she was No. 1.

From April 2010 through March 2012 Tseng won 13 tournaments (including four majors) and built a big lead atop the rankings.

She kept the top spot for another year before being passed by Stacy Lewis as of March 18. Inbee Park, on an impressive tear of her own, has since moved ahead of Lewis and has been No. 1 for 12 weeks.

Tseng was ranked first for 109 consecutive weeks. Only Lorena Ochoa (158 weeks) had a longer tenure at No. 1.

But Tseng has had one Top 20 finish (tie for 19th at the Wegmans LPGA Championship) in her least 10 tournaments. She missed the cut in three events, including last week's Manulife Financial LPGA Classic. That drops her two places from eighth in the rankings. She is in danger of falling out of the Top 10. No. 11 Ai Miyazato is just 0.04 behind in ranking points average.

Another change in the Top 10 sees Jiyai Shin move from 10th to No. 8.

Park Hee-young won the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic, defeating Angela Stanford on the third hole of a playoff. It is Park's second LPGA title and moves her up 16 places to No. 21 in the rankings.
