PHILADELPHIA, March 28 (UPI) -- A goal by Josh Bailey in the fourth round of the shootout Thursday lifted the New York Islanders to a 4-3 decision over Philadelphia.
Bailey put a wrist shot past Ilya Bryzgalov after New York goalkeeper Evgeni Nabokov had stopped Wayne Simmonds to start the fourth round.
The Islanders won their third in a row and moved into a tie with the New York Rangers for the eighth and final playoff position in the Eastern Conference. The Rangers, who fell to Ottawa Thursday, have a game in hand on the Islanders.
New York fell behind 2-0 after one period, but came back to take the lead with three straight goals -- the second and third of them coming from Colin McDonald.
Philadelphia earned a point thanks to a power-play goal from Scott Hartnell with just 30 seconds remaining in regulation.
Both Nabokov and Bryzgalov made 33 saves.
