Defending champ Tsonga breezes at Metz

METZ, France, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Top-seeded defending champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France cruised into the third round of the Moselle Open Wednesday with a straight-set victory.

Tsonga fired six aces and never had his serve broken in topping countryman Clement Reix 6-3, 6-3 on the indoor hard courts at Metz, France.

The French crowd favorite won the title last year with a defeat of former titlist Ivan Ljubicic in the finale.

Also reaching the third round was fourth-seeded German Florian Mayer, who rallied for a 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-4 decision over American James Blake.

First-round triumphs were notched Wednesday by No. 5 Andreas Seppi of Italy, American Jesse Levine, Luxembourg's Gilles Muller and German lucky-loser Michael Berrer.
