MLB: Boston 3, Tampa Bay 2

BOSTON, May 26 (UPI) -- Jarrod Saltalamacchia belted a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth Saturday, rallying the Boston Red Sox to a 3-2 win over Tampa Bay.

Trailing 2-1 entering their final at-bat, the Red Sox began a comeback against Rays closer Fernando Rodney (2-1) when Daniel Nava drew a leadoff walk and went to second on Nick Punto's sacrifice.

Saltalamacchia then came up to pinch-hit for Marlon Byrd and deposited a pitch into the Red Sox bullpen in right field, stunning the Rays with a walk-off game-winner and evening Boston's three-game set at Fenway Park.

The rally handed the victory to Rich Hill (1-0), who had hurled a scoreless top of the ninth.

Red Sox starter Josh Beckett limited Tampa Bay to two runs on four hits over seven innings.

Tampa Bay ace David Price allowed one run on eight hits over seven frames, walking three and striking out five.
