NBA: San Antonio 107, Memphis 97

SAN ANTONIO, April 12 (UPI) -- Tim Duncan produced 20 of his 28 points during the third and fourth periods Thursday, sending San Antonio to a 107-97 win over Memphis.

The Spurs built a 17-point lead early in the final period, then had that advantage cut to five on two occasions down the stretch.

Manu Ginobili hit six free throws over the final minute, however, helping the Spurs hold on and move within a half game of Oklahoma City for the best record in the Western Conference. Ginobili was 11-of-11 from the line and finished with 20 points.

San Antonio had lost its previous two games after having won 11 in a row.

Memphis lost for just the second time in nine games. The Grizzlies were led by 19 points from Rudy Gay and 16 off the bench by O.J. Mayo. Memphis slipped 1 1/2 games behind the Los Angeles Clippers for fourth place in the West.
