STILLWATER, Okla., March 31 (UPI) -- Toni Young's 25 points and nine rebounds Saturday helped Oklahoma State down James Madison 75-68 for the WNIT championship.
Tiffany Bias contributed 17 points and 11 assists, while Liz Donohoe supplied 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Cowgirls (22-12), who remained undefeated in 11 Women's National Invitation Tournament home games.
Oklahoma State led by as many as 17 points in the second half and then held off a late James Madison run to corral the championship.
The Cowgirls earned the trophy after the Nov. 17 deaths of Coach Kurt Budke, assistant Miranda Serna and two others in a plane crash near Little Rock, Ark.
Jim Littell took over as coach after the tragedy and guided the team to its first WNIT title.
The Dukes (29-8) were led by Tarik Hislop with 16 points.
