ARLINGTON, Texas, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Nelson Cruz socked an 11th-inning grand slam Monday, handing the Texas Rangers a 7-3 win over Detroit and a 2-0 lead in the American League Championship Series.

The Rangers had loaded the bases with none out off Ryan Perry (0-1) and Cruz followed by blasting 1-2 pitch deep into the left-field stands -- the first game-ending grand slam in post-season history.

It was the second homer of the game and third in the ALCS for Cruz, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI. His solo shot in the seventh had tied the score 3-3.

The game-winning hit handed a victory to Mike Adams (1-0), who hurled a scoreless top of the 11th. Scott Feldman tossed 4 1/3 scoreless frames in relief of ineffective starter Derek Holland.

Tigers starter Max Scherzer went six innings, yielding three runs on six hits while walking one and fanning six.

Detroit scored all of its runs on Ryan Raburn's three-run homer in the second inning of the game, which was moved to Monday after rain washed out Sunday night's original start time.
