WASHINGTON, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- John Isner moved within one victory of reaching his third straight title match Friday with a quarterfinal victory at the Legg Mason Classic.
The 11th-seeded Isner defeated Viktor Troicki 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 6-1 to set up a semifinal meeting with No. 1 seed Gael Monfils.

Monfils advanced with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Janko Tipsarevic.
Isner won the Hall of Fame Championships in Rhode Island last month and then reached the championship match in Atlanta before losing to Mardy Fish.
The other semifinal will send Donald Young against Radek Stepanek. It will be the first ATP Tour semifinal for Young, who defeated No. 7 seed Marcos Baghdatis 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).
Stepanek downed Fernando Verdasco 6-4, 6-4.
