MLB: Toronto 7, Cleveland 1

CLEVELAND, July 10 (UPI) -- Brett Cecil didn't allow an earned run over six innings and Eric Thames homered Sunday in the Toronto Blue Jays' 7-1 victory over Cleveland.

Cecil (2-4) notched his first victory since April 15 and broke a two-game losing streak since returning to the Toronto rotation following a stint in the minor leagues.

The left-hander yielded only one unearned run, walked three and struck out four as the Blue Jays took three wins in their four-game series with the Indians.

Thames went 3-for-5, connecting for a two-run shot during a five-run third inning. Jose Bautista added a two-run double and J.P Arencibia contributed a pair of hits, including a run-scoring single, in Toronto's victory.

Cleveland's Carlos Carrasco (8-6) absorbed the defeat, lasting only three innings. He was tagged for five runs on seven hits.

Jack Hannahan drove in the Indians' only run.
