MLB: Cleveland 5, Toronto 4

CLEVELAND, July 7 (UPI) -- Travis Hafner completed an improbable rally with a ninth-inning, grand slam homer Thursday, giving the Cleveland Indians a 5-4 win over Toronto.

Cleveland had been shut out on six hits by a combination of three pitchers through eight innings before overcoming a 4-0 deficit in the ninth. The AL Central Division-leading Indians have won two in a row and six out of eight.

Frank Francisco came on in the ninth for the Blue Jays and loaded the bases on a single by Travis Buck, a double by Matt LaPorta and a walk to Jack Hannahan. Luis Perez (1-2) relieved Francisco and struck out Michael Brantley, but then gave up a single by Asdrubal Cabrera that brought home Buck.

Hafner was next and he hit the first pitch from Perez over the wall in right for his eighth homer of the season.

Tony Sipp (4-1) got the win despite giving up a solo homer in the top of the ninth to Tony Bautista, who leads the majors with 29.

Toronto has lost three in a row.
