NBA: Utah 83, Charlotte 78

SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Al Jefferson and C.J. Miles teamed up for 41 points Monday, propelling the Utah Jazz to an 83-78 victory over Charlotte.

Jefferson scored 21 points and collected 11 rebounds while Miles added 20 points off the bench for the Jazz, who won for only the second time in nine games.

Utah never trailed in the game but the Bobcats pulled to within 79-78 on Stephen Jackson's free throws with 2 minutes left.

Paul Millsap (14 points, 12 rebounds) and Raja Bell each sank a pair of foul shots and Charlotte missed three 3-point tries in the final minute to preserve the victory.

Andrei Kirilenko added 13 points and 11 boards, as the Jazz again played without star guard Deron Williams, who missed his third straight game with a hyperextended right wrist.

Jackson ended with 24 points and eight rebounds and D.J. Augustin contributed 20 and eight for the Bobcats.
