COL BKB: Notre Dame 69, Georgetown 55

SOUTH BEND, Ind., Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Tim Abromaitis made five 3-pointers Wednesday, including one during a second-half run that lifted No. 15 Notre Dame past ninth-ranked Georgetown 69-55.

Abromaitis scored 20 points in Notre Dame's Big East Conference opener to help the Fighting Irish extend their winning streak to four games.

Ben Hansbrough and Scott Martin both had 17 points for Notre Dame (12-1). Tyrone Nash added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Notre Dame had a 34-30 lead with 17:15 to play before embarking on a 14-2 run. Georgetown came no closer than seven the rest of the way.

The Hoyas (11-2, 0-1) were led by Austin Freeman with 21 points. Georgetown guard Chris Wright, who was averaging 13 points a game, made only 1-of-9 shots from the field and scored three.

The Hoyas were 4-of-22 from beyond the arc.
