NHL: Detroit 3, Chicago 2

CHICAGO, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Valtteri Filppula collected two goals Saturday and the Detroit Red Wings spoiled the Chicago Blackhawks' home opener 3-2.

The Blackhawks raised their NHL Championship banner before their first home game since winning the Stanley Cup last season.

But the Red Wings didn't play along as Todd Bertuzzi had a goal and an assist and Chris Osgood turned aside 26 shots in Detroit's victory.

Brent Seabrook and Bryan Bickell scored for Chicago, which commemorated the Blackhawks' first league championship since 1961 but dropped their second straight game to start the new season.

Marty Turco let in all three goals on 26 shots in the setback.
