PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Carlos Lee's eighth-inning single knocked in the go-ahead runs Monday, lifting the Houston Astros to a 3-2 decision over Philadelphia.
With the Astros trailing 2-1, pinch-hitter Jason Michaels led off with a single off Ryan Madson (4-2). Michael Bourn followed with a bunt hit and Angel Sanchez sacrificed the runners to second and third.
Madson struck out Hunter Pence but Lee followed with a two-out, broken-bat looper to left field, driving in both runners and helping Houston to post a victory in first of a four-game series at Citizens Bank Park.
Brett Myers (9-7) fanned nine Phillies in seven innings, yielding two runs on nine hits. Brandon Lyon hurled a scoreless ninth to nail down the win and pick up his seventh save.
Carlos Ruiz homered for the Phillies, who fell three games behind idle first-place Atlanta in the National League East.
