ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., July 9 (UPI) -- A pair of two-run homers by Carl Crawford provided the offense the Tampa Bay Rays needed to upend Cleveland 5-2 Thursday.
Crawford's second home run of the game broke a 2-2 tie and secured the Rays' sixth consecutive victory.
Carlos Pena also homered for the Rays. Wade Davis (6-9) picked up his first win since May 29, with two runs on four hits in seven innings. Dan Wheeler pitched the ninth for his first save of the season.
Cleveland had solo home runs from Michael Brantley and Andy Marte. Jake Westbrook (5-5) took the loss after giving up all five runs on eight hits over six innings.
Brantley opened the game with a leadoff homer in the first but Crawford responded in the home half of the inning with a blast that also drove in Ben Zobrist.
Zobrist was on base again in the third when Crawford connected for his 10th home run of the season to make it 4-2. Pena extended the lead to three runs two batters later with his 17th homer of the season.
